SUN CITY,SOUTH AFRICA
(WITH PILANESBERG SAFARI)
VIEW FROM MAZE BAR
GENERAL-Sun City was opened in 1979 in South Africa and become the best holiday resort of South Africa. The resort is located within a two-hour drive from Johannesburg (187 km) and near the city of Rustenburg, is one of the world's most extraordinary hotels. The Lost City, based on an elaborate and entirely imaginary legend about an ancient African kingdom destroyed by a volcano and rediscovered after thousands of years. Its unique setting in South Africa, on an extinct volcanic site among the Pilanesberg Mountains, is matched by the architecture and detail for which The Palace of the Lost City is renowned. Taking architectural and interior themes from the legend of a lost African tribe to capture the essence of The Palace. The magnificence of the wild landscape is depicted through lions, kudus, birds and beasts of all kinds; these are immortalized in statues, stone carvings. The brainchild of South African hotel supremo Sol Kerzner (the man who later brought Atlantis The Palm in Dubai). His vision was to create a mythical royal residence built by a lost tribe.
